Program Overview

"Lights, Camera, Action" is a two-week intensive training program designed to introduce young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to the world of film production. Through hands-on workshops, practical exercises, and collaborative projects, participants will gain foundational knowledge and skills in various aspects of filmmaking, including pre-production, production, and post-production.

"Lights, Camera, Action" provides a valuable opportunity for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to explore their creativity, develop new skills, and gain exposure to the film industry. By providing hands-on training and mentorship in all aspects of filmmaking, we aim to inspire and empower the next generation of storytellers and filmmakers.

  • Youth aged 16-28

  • Beginners to intermediate level in performing arts

  • Participants from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds

Program Structure

Week 1: Pre-Production

 

Day 1: Orientation and Introduction to Film

  • Welcome sessions and icebreakers to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Overview of the program goals, schedule, and expectations.

  • Introduction to the basics of filmmaking, including terminology, roles in the film industry, and the importance of storytelling.

Day 2-3: Screenwriting

  • Workshops on screenwriting fundamentals, including plot development, character creation, and dialogue.

  • Hands-on exercises to practice writing scenes, dialogue, and short film scripts.

  • Group discussions and feedback sessions to refine and improve scripts.

 

Day 4-5: Pre-Production Planning

  • Overview of the pre-production process, including script breakdown, budgeting, and scheduling.

  • Workshops on casting, location scouting, and production design.

  • Practical exercises to create shot lists, storyboards, and production schedules for short film projects.


Week 2: Production and Post-Production

 

Day 6-8: Production

  • Hands-on experience in various production roles, including directing, camera operation, sound recording, and acting.

  • Filming of short film projects developed during the pre-production phase.

  • Guidance and support from experienced mentors and instructors throughout the production process.

 

Day 9-10: Post-Production

  • Introduction to editing software and post-production techniques.

  • Workshops on editing fundamentals, including cutting, pacing, and adding sound and music.

  • Hands-on exercises to edit and refine footage from short film projects.

 

Day 11-12: Finalizing Projects and Showcase Preparation

  • Final editing and polishing of short film projects.

  • Rehearsals and preparations for the final showcase event.

  • Reflection sessions to discuss the filmmaking process, lessons learned, and future opportunities in the film industry.

Final Showcase:

​

  • Culminating showcase event where participants screen their completed short film projects for family, friends, and the community.

  • Q&A session with participants to share their experiences and insights gained from the program.

  • Recognition ceremony to celebrate participants' achievements and completion of the program.
